Total fish taken:
42 Dollaghan trout – 16 cock Dollaghan, 28 hen Dollaghan.
35 Salmon – 24 hen salmon, 11 cock salmon.
Resulting eggs from fish.
Dollaghan: approximately 25,000 dollaghan eggs were collected from the captured brood stock, which once hatched were stocked into the Moyola in early May.
Salmon: approximately 90,000 salmon eggs collected from the captured
brood stock, which once hatched were stocked into the Moyola headwaters and it’s tributaries during the months of May and June.
During the course of the electrofishing good numbers of salmon were seen in small tributaries were salmon fry has been stocked in previous years by the Moyola hatchery committee.
However, a good number of dollaghan and salmon appeared to be unable to scale the Weir in the Moyola estate from early October onwards. A number of damaged fish which were close to spawning were captured at the weir and further downstream.
