Castledawson camogie club are having a duck race on the Moyola river on Friday 10th April at 4pm. They require some fishermen in waders to help release and then catch ducks for the race. Can they remember to bring a landing net

Fergal - there's not too many pro's fishing the moyola. just a lot of crafty boys who know where the trout are at.
A good suggestion for early season is a gold head hares nymph (size 12-14) on the point and an iron blue dun or greenwells glory on the dropper fished in the runs. a floating line is fine. The strong current at the top of a pool will swing the flies around very quick. therefore the fish doesn't have a lot of time to think and normally grabs anything which looks like food.
if this method doesn't work, blame Tommy Mc Grath.
he told me about it...

Hows it going peter will give you a hand no bother just get in touch through this guest book PS was at the river today potatoes are being dumped into the river again what a mess,as we all know it is probably the usual suspects,i would like to ask all anglers if they see anything to get in touch with one of the club seniors or call the pollution hotline,we have a good idea who is doing this we need this stopped, this is illegal dumping and is damaging to water quaility and invertabrates.

I just read an article about the re-introduction of salmon farming in the Ballynahinch Estuary in Co. Galway. It is worth a read because some day our wee river could be under threat and we could be asking for help.
To read the article and sign the petition against the renewel of the farm, follow the link below..
